{"id":131,"date":"2009-07-30T00:51:40","date_gmt":"2009-07-30T05:51:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/?p=131"},"modified":"2009-07-30T00:51:40","modified_gmt":"2009-07-30T05:51:40","slug":"22nd-stop-san-diego-california-the-wildlife-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/22nd-stop-san-diego-california-the-wildlife-park\/","title":{"rendered":"22nd stop &#8211; San Diego, California &#8211; the WildLife Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We took another trip to San Diego today to visit the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Park.<br \/>\nThis place is a really really BIG zoo!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-132\" title=\"blog_sd_wildpark1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/blog_sd_wildpark1.JPG\" alt=\"blog_sd_wildpark1\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The herbivores all run free together.\u00a0 You have giraffes and rhinos rubbing shoulders.<\/p>\n<p>We took the ride that goes through the park.\u00a0 It was very cool to see all of the animals.<br \/>\nThe park has helped restore many different species to the wild.<br \/>\nIt is like a real Jurassic park with regular old animals.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Jurassic park, the park has a Dino Mountain area that is amazing.<br \/>\nYou have a mess of robotic dinosaurs in a redwood forest.<br \/>\nSam &#8211; the King of the Dinos is right in the middle &#8211; Big Rex!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-133\" title=\"blog_sd_wildpark2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/blog_sd_wildpark2.JPG\" alt=\"blog_sd_wildpark2\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Grandma &#8211; we knew you would love this!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-134\" title=\"blog_sd_wildpark3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/blog_sd_wildpark3-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"blog_sd_wildpark3\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This one is also for Grannyma!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-136\" title=\"blog_sd_wildpark4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/blog_sd_wildpark4.JPG\" alt=\"blog_sd_wildpark4\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the dinos, we did a bit of calf-roping.<br \/>\nIt was fun and a bit of a pace-changer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-135\" title=\"blog_sd_wildpark5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/blog_sd_wildpark5.JPG\" alt=\"blog_sd_wildpark5\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-137\" title=\"blog_sd_wildpark6\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/blog_sd_wildpark6.JPG\" alt=\"blog_sd_wildpark6\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lastly, we stopped off to see a porcupine show.<br \/>\nWe sat back and the boys ran up to watch the show.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-138\" title=\"blog_sd_wildpark7\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/blog_sd_wildpark7.JPG\" alt=\"blog_sd_wildpark7\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" \/><br \/>\nWe overheard the boys ask the nice park hosts how the porcupine shoots off its quills.<br \/>\nKelley and I were laughing so hard that we could not see.<br \/>\nSam and Ben were very upset that the hosts told them the porcupine could not shoot its quills.<br \/>\nSam said &#8211; &#8220;My daddy said the porcupine shoots its quills at stuff!&#8221;<br \/>\nSam was very upset that the hosts knew so little about porcupines.<br \/>\nI had to defend my position on the deadly nature of the porcupine.<br \/>\nI explained that the nice hosts did not want panic and hysteria to overtake the crowd which was of course why they did not tell the real story of the porcupine and its ability to shoot quills with laser precision.<br \/>\nHad the crowd known the real danger they were in, it would have been a real riot.<br \/>\nWe were lucky to have survived such a close encounter with such a deadly adversary!<\/p>\n<p>Adios,<br \/>\nThe A-team<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We took another trip to San Diego today to visit the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Park.
