{"id":219,"date":"2011-06-23T23:26:57","date_gmt":"2011-06-24T04:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/?p=219"},"modified":"2011-06-23T23:28:12","modified_gmt":"2011-06-24T04:28:12","slug":"onward-to-muscatine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/onward-to-muscatine\/","title":{"rendered":"Onward to Muscatine . . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, with Sioux Falls behind us, we headed on to Muscatine, Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>We had Sasquatch and Lock Ness on our minds so we routed our trip to hit Spirit Lake and Okopoji Lake only to find no monsters other than the thousands of retired people.\u00a0 We love retirees, but we were looking for some Squatch pics and only found moth balls and lots of dentures.\u00a0 While quite scary in their own right, not what we had in mind.\u00a0 We thought about calling in the local BFRO, but just kept on moving\u00a0 Check out Finding BigFoot on Discovery for more on the BFRO.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>Hunger pains got the best of us as well as a few missed exits so we ended up running aground on Jethro&#8217;s BBQ Island just outside of Des Moines.\u00a0 Bevery Hill Billys and Gilligan&#8217;s Island collide.\u00a0 I highly recommend Jethro&#8217;s to anyone looking for BBQ in the Des Moines area.\u00a0 It was soooo gooooood!\u00a0 The BBQ French Dip was amazing!\u00a0 The MacNCheese was great!\u00a0 It was all good other than the gaining of ten pounds.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_220\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-220\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-220 \" title=\"iowa_jethros_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/iowa_jethros_2011-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Best BBQ in Iowa!\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-220\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Best BBQ in Iowa!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Onward ho &#8211; Muscatine was a bit boring.\u00a0 The Mrs. Pippy river was rocking as usual, but that was really all that Muscatine had to offer.\u00a0 Sorry, Muscatine, you just didn&#8217;t have much going on.\u00a0 People actually live on the Mrs. Pippy river which was a bit odd as that just does not seem like\u00a0 a safe place to live.\u00a0 Anyway, that is it for now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, with Sioux Falls behind us, we headed on to Muscatine, Iowa.
