{"id":268,"date":"2011-07-02T23:27:50","date_gmt":"2011-07-03T04:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/?p=268"},"modified":"2011-07-04T10:43:16","modified_gmt":"2011-07-04T15:43:16","slug":"bowling-green-kentucky","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/bowling-green-kentucky\/","title":{"rendered":"Bowling Green, Kentucky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well,\u00a0 what a cool city this was.\u00a0 We spent five days here and have loads to say about this place.<br \/>\nWe started out by caving at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diamondcaverns.com\/\">Diamond Caverns<\/a> and ending up caving and camping at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/maca\/index.htm\">Mammoth Cave<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_288\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-288\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-288\" title=\"bowlinggreen_diamondcaverns_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/bowlinggreen_diamondcaverns_2011-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Diamond Caverns\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-288\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Diamond Caverns<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Mammoth Cave campground is awesome, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>DO NOT<\/strong><\/em><\/span> camp in the sites adjacent to the bath rooms.<br \/>\nWe camped in site 12 and it was next to a bathroom and the light and noise was worse than expected.<br \/>\nThe motion flood-lights are really bright and they ruin the camping experience.<br \/>\nWe did not visit all 7 caves in the Bowling-Green area, but the two we checked out were the best we think.<\/p>\n<p>We hit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beechbend.com\/\">Beech Bend<\/a> amusement park in the middle along with quite a few other local stops.<br \/>\nThe Kentucky Rumber is the bomb-diggitty and so was the tiltin-whirl!<br \/>\nHand-breaded corn dogs and pretzels are hard to beat.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_278\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-278\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-278 \" title=\"bowlinggreen_beechbend_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/bowlinggreen_beechbend_2011-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Michael Jackson used to own this.\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-278\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Michael Jackson used to own this.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_284\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-284\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-284 \" title=\"bowlinggreen_beechbend3_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/bowlinggreen_beechbend3_2011-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Kentucky Rumbler\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-284\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kentucky Rumbler<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_285\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-285\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-285   \" title=\"bowlinggreen_beechbend4_2011\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/bowlinggreen_beechbend4_2011-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Tilt-in Whirl\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-285\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tilt-in Whirl -
