{"id":390,"date":"2013-07-27T22:09:35","date_gmt":"2013-07-28T03:09:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/?p=390"},"modified":"2013-07-27T22:10:50","modified_gmt":"2013-07-28T03:10:50","slug":"2013-road-trip-part-4-washington-dc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/2013-road-trip-part-4-washington-dc\/","title":{"rendered":"2013 Road Trip \u2013 Part 4 &#8211; Washington DC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We hiked a ton of miles while in Washington DC.\u00a0 We went all over the Mall and had a great time.<\/p>\n<p>The International Spy Museum was our first stop.\u00a0 It was cool, but a little overpriced.\u00a0 It had lots of history and information about what being a real spy is all about.\u00a0 Many case studies of real life agents were presented and each of us was allowed to make up our own secret identity.\u00a0 We had a fun time.\u00a0 The museum had lots of information and we learned everything about James Bond.\u00a0 Ben won a hang from the ground contest that was part of the spy test area.<\/p>\n<p>The Shake Shack next door has mean burgers and custard.\u00a0 It was well work the wait if you like burgers and custard.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_391\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-391\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/home\/apluscom\/roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/41_summer_road_trip_2013-441.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-391\" alt=\"Spy Museum\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/home\/apluscom\/roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/41_summer_road_trip_2013-441-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/home\/apluscom\/roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/41_summer_road_trip_2013-441-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/home\/apluscom\/roadtrippingforkids.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/41_summer_road_trip_2013-441-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-391\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">International Spy Museum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Smithsonian Museums were really cool.\u00a0 Natural history was the best and the ice age section was cool.\u00a0 Natural History has a full size Wright Whale hanging from the ceiling and also had animals from all over the US from way back in time &#8211; giant sloths and huge cats were just a few.\u00a0 American History had real life trains so my little brother Wile was going crazy about that.\u00a0 Air and space made my heart soar looking at all the planes.\u00a0 At the American Indian museum, we saw lots of hand made boats and they were cool. American history was very interesting even though we all thought it would be boring.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_395\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-395\" style=\"width: 224px\" July in Washington DC, you are truly missing out.\u00a0 Stay away from the Mall and go to the river bank just by the Arlington Cemetery.\u00a0 The view is better and the crowd is much lighter.\u00a0 We rode the subway metro train in and out and it was easy money.\u00a0 The fireworks were the best we have ever seen.\u00a0 My brother Wile won the duck duck goose world championship while were waiting on the show to start.\u00a0 It was a fun time for sure.\u00a0 The train ride back was very patriotic as many people were singing songs and chanting USA!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_394\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-394\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">4th of July Fireworks<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We went to Bob and Edith&#8217;s Diner after the fireworks and chowed down.\u00a0 What a great place!<\/p>\n<p>We hit Ed&#8217;s Chicken and Steak the next day for Peruvian chicken.\u00a0 Yummy!\u00a0 Dairy God Mother has mean custard if you like custard.<\/p>\n<p>There is a ton of stuff to do in Washington DC if you have time to get squeeze it all in.<\/p>\n<p>Rhode Island, The Adirondacks, Vermont, and New Hampshire are up
